Grooved Brain Coral has a groove running along the top and in the center of its ridges. Like its cousin, Grooved Brain Coral is most commonly found in the waters of South Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Ranging in depths from 15' to 50' and can grow up to 6' high.Each piece of Grooved Brain Coral (Diploria labyrinthiformis) shown on this page is unique. When you purchase one of these pieces, you are getting the actual piece shown. The dimensions shown correspond to how you are viewing the piece of coral in the photo. Most of our pieces can be place in different positions, so you can try setting each piece on different sides, until you find the position you prefer.

Grooved Brain Coral (Piece #GRBC-0002)
This large coral piece is
unique because there is a fossilized boring clam protruding from it. You can see the clam
to the left of center in the photo. Boring Clams make a perfectly round hole as they bore
through coral. The largest boring clam hole we have seen to date was 2-1/2" in diameter.
